Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed that he recently received treatment for early-stage prostate cancer, according to details released in his annual medical report.
The Israeli prime minister revealed that a small tumour was detected during a routine health checkup. Doctors treated the condition using radiation therapy, and medical experts report that the cancer was identified at an early stage—significantly improving the chances of a full recovery.
Netanyahu, 76, explained that he chose to delay the public release of this information by two months. He said the decision was made to avoid fueling misinformation during a sensitive period of conflict involving Israel and Iran.
Medical assessments indicate that Netanyahu is currently in good overall health. Specialists, including oncology experts, have stated that follow-up tests such as imaging and blood work show no remaining signs of the disease.
The prime minister has been under regular medical supervision since undergoing surgery for a benign enlarged prostate in 2024. It was during this ongoing monitoring that the tumour was discovered and treated promptly.
As Israel’s longest-serving leader, Netanyahu has previously faced public speculation regarding his health, particularly during times of heightened geopolitical tension. Earlier this year, he addressed false claims circulating online by appearing in public to reassure citizens.
